About This Project
Hamilton’s Events is an events catering company based in Addlestone, Surrey, owned by Kerry & Carter Williamson. Having been in business for a number of years already, I was tasked with building a new fully responsive website, to allow their customers to have the best experience possible, whether on a desktop, a mobile device or tablet. In addition, I was asked to refresh both the look and feel of the brand, which included a new logo, business cards and a set of creative looking food menus.
THE BRANDING
Working closely with Carter, I drew inspiration from the many years of catering experience and the excitement and passion that he clearly has for food to come up with a new brand to reflect this. We agreed on a strong, bold typeface for the name as well as the inclusion of a food item to help associate the name with catering.
Several ideas later, it became clear that the ‘aubergine’ was the stronger – and the colours worked well with the vision Carter had in mind.
BUSINESS CARDS & BROCHURE MENUS
With the logo designed and the fonts/colour palette agreed, my next task was to produce a clean, crisp set of business cards and having one side of the card in portrait worked perfectly to allow the aubergine to sit prominently on its own, whilst the other side of the card was a standard landscape which included the entire logo.
The actual brochure menus came about whilst I was half way through building the website and it was my suggestion to design the menus that reflected the look and feel of a magazine. The existing ones were standard word documents and I felt that because people buy food with their eyes they needed to be tackled! Thankfully Carter agreed.
THE WEBSITE
With the branding established, the website was next on the agenda and as the existing website wasn’t mobile optimised, this was key for the new site. With a renewed focus on high quality photography to help depict the services that Hamilton’s offer, I set about incorporating elements of the old site into the new, whilst ensuring that it remained clean, crisp and user friendly.
THE RESULT
A fully responsive website that incorporates high quality images, typography and iconography to reflect Carters vision of his brand.
